Let's take a trip back to 1967, Detroit Michigan, Shahir and Matt were merely twinkles in their respective dad's eyes and the Algiers hotel was about to become the scene of a horrific hostage crisis.

Kathryn Bigelow's "Detroit" may not be the summer escapism you're looking for, but it makes for a fascinating discussion point about the cultural ownership of tragedy and who gets to retell stories of the past.
